Indiana

The last time I slept here was my first time here.

Leaving home for a new home.

The first home I knew
and now I’m back where I first remember growing up.

Dad picking me up,
lifting me over the chain-link fence
to run around the yard with my best friend.

Sleeping on the couch
and my parents waking me up for dinner

Sitting at the kitchen table for hours
forced to eat
but I was so scared to choke again.

Pack up the truck and move East
towards PA.
Back to Pittsburgh for my family
but not for me
Indiana was my home.

Little did I know,
I would still be here
and never want to leave.
